Who we are 

KIRAN Legal is a community law centre based in Cardiff. Its mission is to make a positive impact on people’s lives, especially the most vulnerable and socially excluded. We do this by providing free, confidential and independent legal advice to people living, working and studying in and around Cardiff.

What we do

KIRAN Legal’s lawyer, caseworkers, and volunteers provide free, confidential and independent legal advice and assistance in Housing and Welfare benefits matter.

We also provide Equality Diversity and Inclusion training to community organisations, charities and other private and public organisations at a reasonable cost.

We also provide Bengali, Sylheti Hindi, Urdu interpretations service.

How we are governed

KIRAN Legal is a membership organisation. People can apply to become members and get involved in the life of KIRAN Legal. We also have a board of directors made up of members who have been elected to become volunteer trustees. Trustees are elected/re-elected at Annual General Meeting and meet as around six times a year.

Trustees on the Management Committee set the Law Centre’s strategic direction and hold Law Centre staff and volunteers accountable for legal and financial decisions being made.

Trustees on the Management Committee are also required to ensure that KIRAN Legal’s accounts are filed with appropriate authorities by the end of each financial year.
